For the 3rd year in a row we will be at Splatter! in Dublin, CA. This is an exciting food, art, and wine festival. It’s a fun day in beautiful Dublin, CA.  This is an amazing event, filled with music, wonderful vendors, fun for the kids, and great wine! We are so happy to have been part of this event since it’s inception 3 years ago, and we hope to be part of it for many more years. We will provide more updates as we get closer to the event.

Henry Cowell Redwood State Park

January 24, 2010

I did a show at Henry Cowell Redwood State Park in mid December 2009 and during it I had a discussion with the gift shop staff and in the weeks since then have been working on having my items in the shop. During the process we agreed on custom labels based on the photos taken by Lee Williams.

They selected some Handmade Soaps, Hand & Body Lotions, Bath & Shower Gels and Foamers to carry. The custom labels look great and really give the products a wonderful woodsy look.

If you are in the Felton, CA area it’s worth stopping by and checking out the beautiful redwood trees and the lovely gift shop at Henry Cowell Redwood State Park. You’ll be glad you did!

2010 and new challenges

January 10, 2010

2009 was a year full of wonderful challenges and amazing opportunities. Some of those ended with 2009 (the Alameda Farmer’s Market raised their weekly stall rates to a point were it was not profitable for me to continue to be there), and a few started at the end of 2009 and are going strong in the first few weeks of 2010 (a few of my items are being carried at the gift shop at the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton, CA – I am even doing some private labeling for them – but that’s another blog).

While I love having a retail business I am also looking into wholesale opportunities starting in the San Francisco Bay Area, and will later look into other location in California. I am also working on brining my wine soaps into local wineries as an additional item to sell in their tasting room.

I know that I have not been blogging much recently, but part of 2010 will be to get back into the blogging and twittering saddle.  Also, look for changes in my product lines, which will involve sales as I reduce inventory in certain items as well as adding new items as the mood strikes me.

Here is to 2010 and limitless possibilities!

Fall planning before summer starts

May 29, 2009

In soap making I have to be ahead of the curve, especially since soap takes 3-4 weeks to cure before it is ready to be sold. I recently got it to a Holiday Boutique in Alameda, Ca for the first weekend in November and I have to start thinking about what I’m going to sell now.  Not only does it take time to make soaps, but it also takes testing time for new ideas that I have. I want to have a more expansive fall line this year, so the testing will begin mid June. Right now I’m in the idea phase of things.

So what does that mean? Well for those of you who live near Alameda, CA you will be able to purchase my products first hand at the Boutique and I’ll even have a special free gift if you say “saw your blog” (I’ll remind you of this as the date gets closer), and I’ll have free holiday gift bags so that when you leave my table your purchases will be wrapped for the holidays and ready to go.

For those of you who don’t live close enough I will list the new items in October, so be on the look out for announcements for those.
