In my neighborhood we have many traditions with regards to the 4th of July. The city of Alameda has the longest 4th of July Parade in the nation (the length of the route, that is),. Where I live we hold a block party and have a great time sitting on our front lawns, letting our kids play and catching up since the lat time we had a block party.
I usually spend the morning taking time to reflect on all of the great men and women who allowed us to be the free and independent nation that we are. I’m proud to be an American and I love the 1 day a year my whole block is alive with others who feel the same.
